It was great to start the new year with a new book, 'Windy B The Snow Race', and have the chance to share it so early in the year with a primary school in Cambridge. When I arrived at the school, I was taken to the main hall and there on the stage was a huge screen showing the title page of 'Windy B The Snow Race'. The staff had set everything up for me beautifully and the fantastic images in the book, all created by Alice Jamieson, Windy B's illustrator were all ready at the click of a remote control button. The children all came into the room, settled down, the lights were dimmed and Alice's illustrations were ready to roll. One of the most amazing aspects of reading a book to a group of children looking at images on a big screen is to see the joy, surprise and laughter in their eyes. Would the children guess the ending or would it come as a surprise to them? Would they enjoy the story as much as I had enjoyed writing it? It's always a bit sad coming to the end of a story, but a resounding cheer and a round of applause sent me happily on my way afterwards. I am already looking forward to my next school reading of 'Windy B The Snow Race'
